Scents That Make Cents.

Scents That Make Cents

The way a woman smells is a intimate and unique experience for everyone who interacts with her. Her entire essence can be summed up by her signature aroma. I can distinctly remember the way my mother smelled every time she would embrace me in a hug when I was a child. She emanated earthy poppy seed oil and opium followed by a fresh rose bouquet. This seasoned my childhood, and I now have the fondest likening for opium oils and earthy musk's. Fragrances smell entirely different on everyone by the way each note interacts with the individuals chemistry, so its impossible to have the same experience twice even if the scent is on the top of the best seller list.

TIP: Perfume is most compelling when applied to the warmest areas of the body. This includes; the pulse points on the wrists, the ever sensual side of the neck, between the breasts, in the bend of the elbows, behind your knees, on your inner thighs, and around the ankles. These points will support the longevity of your fragrance and keep you oozing your favorite scent steadily day into evening.

In true Style Savvy fashion, Today I am taking you on a supremely inexpensive and informative journey into the chaotic and complex world of fragrances. Lets get schooled ladies;

First Period, Chemistry Class:

Perfumes, Colognes, Body Mists,Lotions, Fragrance Sticks etc, are all complex concoctions of a variety of ingredients. Many perfumes are composed of plant oils and synthetic fillers that increase the stability and endurance of a fragrance. Alcohol is used as an inexpensive base for fragrances. The ratio of alcohol to scented materials is ultimately what determines the final concoctions label.

Second period Science Class:

Perfumes, much like women ,are a complex composition of of multiple layers, three to be exact. Each layer is referred to as a note. The top note is the most fleeting scent scent that will last for only a few hours. The second note is longer lasting, but still short lived. The base note is the key element to consider when selecting a signature fragrance. This scent will be the undertone, the structure on which the arrangement is composed. This note will out last your work day and escort you into your evening. Perfumes are the most expensive but stable of all fragrances.

Colognes are a single-scented mixtures.(Much like men, straight forward and elementary). These fragrances tend to be less potent than perfumes and typically only endure morning coffee and quite possibly an early lunch. Men typically wear colognes due to the simplistic nature of the fragrance composition.

Eau de perfume Is the most popular selling fragrance form available on the market because it is less expensive than perfume and will last well into dinner time. Again mimicking the composition of perfume, but containing more of an alcohol percentage, so not to be classified as a perfume. These are what we are all most familiar with at the beauty counter in the department stores.

Eau de toilette contains a small percentage of fragrance oils and is primarily filled with alcohol and synthetic fillers. The least expensive yet, this quickly dissipating whiffs will only last approximately three to four hours, so be sure not to spend a substantial sum on this tangy pleasure. These are the body splashed and body mists of the world.

Scented body creams and lotions have approximately the same fragrance content as eau de toilette. Only these scrumptious indulgences are developed with a multitude of glycerin, alcohol, bees wax, and possibly natural extracts.

My favorite, Economics Class:

Explore the mini ladies and gents!! If you are unfamiliar with what I speak of, listen up!! I am about to become your best friend. Minis and roller-Balls are these incredible little gifts from the budget fairy. She simply waves her magical piratical wand over a full sized 1.7 oz Eau De Parfum Spray, and POOF, its one quarter of its original size, and one eights the cost!! MAGIC.

I find committing to one full sized bottle of perfume a demanding task. I don't want to smell exactly the same for a year. I want a perfume that speaks volumes about my ever fluctuating mood. I want a light fruity aura when I am romping on the beach in mid July, and a rich full bodied musk in those brisk winter months bundled up by the fire. How can I afford to do so without spending any where between $65-$110 on a full sized bottle each season? Naturally, I spend a mere $6.99 on a mini designer fragrance instead. I can slip this convenient little morsel into my handbag and go. Now you can do the same my frugalista's.

Another method of saving while flavoring, solid fragrance sticks. These are small portable fragrance crayons that are composed primarily of beeswax and your favorite designer flavors. They are again about one eights of the traditional price and portable... what could be better?

Bag Ladies- Handbag Heaven

Bag Ladies:

Handbag Heaven

PSSSST....Here's a little secret?

I am about to let you all in on my dirty little secret.......... I have never paid full price for any of my designer handbags, and about 99% of my designer clothing. I refuse to do so. Much like paying for parking, I don't condone spending obscene amounts of cash when they can surley be found for less. I won't sacrifice style or quality for price either. So, for a fashion snob like me, what is to be done? I simply get that edgy Ed Hardy bag I've been eying at an 85% discount. Want to know how?

Women continually stop me in public and comment on how unique and fabulous my handbags are. I take quite a bit of pride in my extensive bag collection, reason being, I know I got the best deal possible on ALL of them. My trick? I shop TJ-Maxx. I shop there when I have an extra
$15 or even $155. There is always a magnificent find waiting for me, beckoning to me to find it, bring it home and rock it!!!

TJ-Maxx operates differently than "classic" department stores, and here is how they can afford to give you anywhere between a 15-85% discount on a abundance of designer merchandise. Typically merchandise is planned for and bought at least 2 seasons out..... That's over 6 months away people. This means at Christmas-time your favorite local department store is in the midst of buying summer lines. However TJ-Maxx purchases designer leftovers from previous or current seasons, “unpopular” styles, colors and fabrications, surplus merchandise from department stores and manufacturers, merchandise that was unsuccessfully delivered, and sample pieces.

This is fantastic for you, the Style Savvy shopper, because you aren't seeing the same styles and designs that EVERYONE already has already bought. There are some fetching finds, and you need only go and claim them.
Many people are under the impression that TJ-Maxx and other "off price" retailers only sell damaged or defective goods. They are sadly mistaken. The designer merchandise available at TJ-Maxx is in fact the very same merchandise you seen in the "classic" stores, or specialty retailers. So for heaven's sake my fellow Style Savvy shoppers, take advantage of this substantial opportunity, stop by at your local TJ-Maxx and go forth and save.

TIP: If you happen to be feeling bloated or frumpy one morning and cant find anything suitable to wear other then your over sized sweat suit, go monochromatic with a chic all black ensemble. This will give you a slenderizing and elongating effect. Now spice it up with a splash of bold, bright color or a cheeky patterned handbag. This look is not only timeless and classy, but its also an inexpensive way to give your wardrobe a quick face lift when you are in a financial funk.

I blow 5 out of 5 enthusiastic kisses to my Hand Bag Heaven, TJ-Maxx

  4. Product Review:

Being a natural red head I am the most typical stereotype. I have very fair, freckled sensitive skin susceptible to all the elements. Summertime in particular, is the bane of my existence for a multitude of reasons. First, the sun burns twice as hot when I'm outside and scalds me within moments of exposure. Secondly the humidity completely blows out my already frizzed ginger locks, and I end up looking a mess before I can get to where I'm going. I end up caring a massive bag every where I go in the summer months just to combat the elements. Cuticle cremes for dehydrated fingers, frizz control gels and spray to tame the wild beast on top of my head, aloe for stinging sun irritations, and that's just to name a few. This small yet mighty “ Salve” stick is the end all answer that us bag ladies have been praying for. It works wonders, taming rogue eyebrows that don't want to fall in line with its friends. Simply apply the stick over your brows even if you have filled them in with a pencil or shadows. They come out looking groomed and well behaved.
TIP:Well groomed eye brows are what frame your face and create a proportional and clean look!
This mighty
20-in-1 wonder balm battles; sunburn and windburn, soothe just-waxed skin, soothe stressed post-treatment skin, soothe stinging and itching from insect bites, moisturize chapped heels, elbows, knees, moisturize chapped noses, prevent runner's chafing, prevent shoe blisters, nourish cuticles, tame hair fly-aways, groom eyebrows, and fixes make-up mistakes.

Thank you Bilss! This summer I can ditch the carry all bag and flaunt a dainty clutch while maintaining my ultimate style savviness.

I blow Bliss's “Problem Salved” 4 out of 5 Kisses.

  4. Product Review:

This product is comparable to NARS, Multi Purpose Skin In Orgasm, selling for $37.00. I am what many would describe as a “ fashion snob”. I am one of those women in the gym with a full face of make up and the latest styles of cutsie pootsie running sneakers that every woman asks, where did you get those? I literally wear out the magnetic scanning bar on the back of my credit card I shop so frequently. I have baskets and bags full of skin care products and cosmetics in my lavatory. I live for fashion and beauty, and I know what looks good.I am not apprehensive to try new brands and spend money doing what I love.
I was pleasantly surprised by this brand that quite frankly,
I had never heard of previous to this purchase. More then ever I am watching my wallet and making more cost conscious decisions. This mighty little “All Over Color Stick” is truly a style savvy find. For merely a dollar I have created a moisture rich “sun kisses” cheek. It gives my freckled apples a soft naturally flushed pink hue with just the right amount golden undertones to generate a healthy warmth. Simply dab the stick on your cheeks, up the cheek bones, and over the bridge of the nose. Blend a bit with your finger and you are officially glowing.
TIP: Cheeks need color to maintain a healthy vibrant complexion. If your skin is looking sallow and tired, splash a bit of color on and “glow” forth and shine!
I enjoyed this product so much I bought one for my mother a
    nd one for each of my best gall palls. e.l.f also features a Studio line of cosmetics for no more then $3 as well as a Mineral Cosmetics line with prices ranging from $5-$8. When it comes to my now supple sun drenched cheeks and delighted wallet;

I blow e.l.f's “All Over Color Stick” 5 out of 5 kisses

EON'S Calendua

Skins Natural Cure All”

  1. Availability:

    eonorganics.com
  2. Company History:

E.O.N.-Eye of Newt Herbals Jamie Danek in 1996 left behind the mountains of Colorado bound for rural Bucks County Pennsylvania . Jamie began to experiment, combining fresh plants that grew all around her to create her own uniquely inspired, natural remedies. As the plants grew in her window boxes and on her front porch – so too did Jamie 's passion for crafting natural healing products. She originally crafted these products for personal and family use but then by request and growing popular demand, she extended her products to friends and now YOU.

  3. Benefits:

The natural healing powers of Calendula includes; skin repair, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and regenerating properties. Calendula comes from the Calendula flower and has been used for centuries in healing cuts, scrapes, abused muscles and joints, acne, rosacea, sunburn, diaper rash, chapped or cracked skin, impetigo, and eczema.

  4. Price: $7.00

  5. Product Review:

All Natural Ingredients in EON's Calendula: Olive Oil, Calendula Flowers, Chamomile Flowers, Beeswax, and Vitamin E.
While my brother and I were growing up in the small artsy community of Bucks County, our mother was a firm believer in a holistic and natural way of life. My parents opted out of having us vaccinated at birth or any time therefore after. We were raised using homeopathy and natural forms of healing to fight our common illnesses and woes. Calendula was a staple in our household for healing active, possibly accident prone children. There was at least one container of Calendula in the lavatory medicine cabinet, one in the junk drawer in the kitchen and one floating around the house. Now as an “adult” I have outgrown many of those natural remedies and practices but faithfully adopted Calendula. I use it on my nose for rough wintery colds when blowing has worn the poor skin from my face, under my pretty pink Hello Kitty band-aids in stead of a layer of chemically enhanced Neosporin. I simply smooth a heavy layer over my cuts, and rest assured I will heal scarless and smooth. When that O-so special time of the month rolls around, my skin tends to rebel and break out becoming enraged and aggravated. First I freak out a bit, then I head for my trusty Calendula, slather my face in this miracle flower salve and sleep it off. By the next waking day the redness has subsided, the blemishes have shrunk and the skin is smooth and extremely soft. Drug store and RX acne cremes and treatments dry the pimple leaving you with a crusty mess. How are you supposed to put concealer over that? You aren't!! With Calendula its not an issue. The skin is healthier, moisture rich and calmed. Covering up those unsightly pests is a cinch!

    TIP:
When attempting the daring feat of concealing a pimple, the trick is to get the area as moisturized as possible. Blot the natural oils away, but do NOT try to dry out the pimple. It will irritate it further and draw more attention to the blemish on your day.
I recommend Calendula salve to any one who has had it up to here with crusty face syndrome. Calendula salve is not an acceptable treatment for the daytime due to its greasy nature so in light of that,

I blow EON Calendula Salve 4 out of 5 kisses.

Pssssst......Here's a little Secret:

Throughout the many stages of my Image Consulting career, I have discovered a few tid-bits of useful information I am going to pass along to you.

While money issues are certainly an unavoidable bump in the road, its important that you do not sacrifice ALL things that make you feel beautiful. Cut backs are inevitable, but loving the way you look is something you deserve. So prioritize, and put your self at the top of that list.

For extreme cases of anorexic wallet syndrome, try buying travel sized samples of products. Any local store selling beauty products should have an isle dedicated to that perpetual traveler. Pick up a pack of 15 Ponds Eye Make Remover Pads or a Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub for 95 cents. This way you can try the product before you commit to an entire $8.95 bottle of Dove Deep Moisture FaceLotion that you simply don't care for.
